Bio

Erika Eggers's research interests are in the area of visual neuroscience, studying the function of retinal neurons with single-cell electrophysiology, confocal imaging, optogenetics and modeling.

She is currently working to understand how retinal signaling changes in early diabetes and how the electrical response of the retina adapts to changing light conditions. Work in the Eggers lab is supported by the National Eye Institute, the National Science Foundation and the International Retinal Research Foundation.

Eggers is a member of the UA BIO5 Institute. She is also a member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and the Society for Neuroscience.
