ABET Accreditation

ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission logoThe undergraduate biomedical engineering program at the University of Arizona is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.

ABET is the recognized accreditor of degree-granting postsecondary programs in applied science, computing, engineering and technology. It is the most important programmatic accrediting board for engineering programs.

ABET accreditation assures a quality education, according to the professions for which students are training. ABET accredits only postsecondary degree-granting programs housed within regionally accredited institutions. It does not accredit degrees, departments, colleges or institutions.

Accreditation in the United States is a voluntary, nongovernmental periodic peer-review process.
